Drumroll please...

The moment you've been waiting for (I know, for a whole two days :) )....

Little Man is here modeling his cousin's sweater. I think it's probably in poor taste that I had him wear it to pose for pictures, but let's face it, it's the kind of sweater that needs to be modeled. Now that Ethan has opened his gift, I'll have to post a photo of him in it once my Mom or brother sends me one. You'll probably notice the sweater is on the big side...I made a size 6 for a now 5-year-old, and will make the same size for my 4-year-old. I learned my lesson last year when I made a size 4 for a 4 year-old, and it barely covered his tummy before cake, much less after a big meal. So, knitting it on the bigger side was the way I went this time around.

After messing up the first front I had knit, where I did the Superman emblem using the intarsia method (using bobbins of separate color to knit blocks of color, creating one layer of knitting) I had to redo it once I forgot to bind off stitches for the set-in sleeves. The second time around I knit the entire front in blue, and then duplicate stitch the emblem onto the sweater (creating a double layer where the emblem is embroidered onto the sweater).

The cape is felt, since last year when I made the Batman-inspired sweater I learned a knit cape is too heavy. The cape is detachable, and the Superman emblem buttons that are holding it in place were made by me.

With all of the Superman sweater knitting (don't forget I've also been working on the sequel) I decided to take a couple of days off after finishing the first one to do a couple of little projects. I'm a little tired of primary red, blue and yellow. So I turned to the Knitalong book I picked up a few months ago, and I cast on for the Victorian Bonnet. In two evenings, it was done, and I think it's really beautiful for something so quick and easy to make.

Then, with the bonnet such a quick knit, I cast on for my first pair of socks. I named them my Rose Garden Socks, after the colorway of yarn I used. I knit the first sock in one night (a very long night), and the second over three nights. I finished the second this evening. They fit perfect, are soft and cozy, and I can't believe I made them! The perfect socks for sleeping during the cold winter months!

And now, back to the second Superman sweater!

Well that's a mighty fine sweater. I don't know how to do duplicate stitch so I would probably have done the intarsia too. The buttons are just fantastic, what a great finishing touch! And, congrats on finishing your first sock! It's a slippery slope I tell ya, you'll be sock mad like the rest of us before you know it. P.S. did you use handmaiden sea silk for them? I made a Montego bay Scarf using the exact same colorway and I love it!
