<br />
The first card up is for my brother-in-law's birthday next week. I need to get it in the mail so it reaches him on time so I decided his card had to be the first one done! He's super into woodworking so his card has a work bench on the inside with tools that were paper-pieced together...and the outside I decorated with stickers. I hope it brings a smile! Want to make one? The card is available in the Silhouette Design Studio. I just used brown, cream, yellow and silver cardstock...so cutting the pieces didn't take too long.<br />

Have you ever thought to yourself that if you just had the time you could make all of your cards? Or at least more of them? Well, while we're not leaving home like usual, and life outside the house has greatly decreased; I thought it would be a great use of some of my time to make some of the cards I keep pinning on Pinterest for inspiration. I keep seeing super fun design elements that I think could make my loved ones smile...so, I've started a list! It covers from now moving forward of the events coming up that would be great to make cards for. Here are the pieces for four cards. I hope to get one a day done...but some of the cards I want to make have a lot of stamping and coloring so they may take longer (I am still working and having to do other things than just craft after all). I thought cutting out several cards during one sitting would help a little bit. I look forward to showing you the cards as I finish them!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-34473509036599295212020-03-21T16:55:00.000-04:002020-03-27T16:57:14.262-04:00Nervous, Anxious, Super Cute Knitting!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

While waiting, impatiently, for my precious little niece to be born I knit up this little "Five Hour Baby Sweater" which, you may remember, takes me a bit longer to knit than 5 hours. More like 7 or 8...but still super fast! It's knit from the top down and I just think it's a lot of cute bang for the effort. Since my niece's name was going to be Scarlett I drank my custom Scarlett Rose wine and used my little Scarlett stitch marker to keep me company while I waited to hear that the newest member of the family had arrived. I may have cast-on another sweater already! I made this sweater with some more of my friend's grandmother's stash too!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-50342823778607118852020-03-20T16:49:00.000-04:002020-03-27T16:50:46.472-04:00A Festive FO!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've finished Julgran and I'm so happy with the fit! It's super cozy and I think it will be festive to wear during the holidays and I think I may jazz it up with some Christmas stitch markers if I want something less subtle. I'm imagining the stitch markers looking like ornaments on the tree! I enjoyed the construction of this project, the way the sleeves were picked up and the caps worked with short rows was different enough to keep me interested and I love how they came out. Also love the sleeve length. I did knit the body a bit longer just because if I wear it during the winter I don't want to worry that if I move I'm going to get a cold draft of air up my back! It was super easy to increase the length with the top down pattern. Another great thing about this project? A friend gave me the yarn from her grandmother's stash. It feels good to know the yarn was used for something fun and functional!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-29945281481972142832020-03-19T15:50:00.000-04:002020-03-19T15:50:37.675-04:00Julgran is Almost Done!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I finished my Bang Out a Sweater just in time, and once that was done I turned my attention back to my Julgran sweater. Once it's done I have a baby to knit a wee little sweater for...and since I'm not leaving the house much these days I have a list of upcoming events to make cards for and photo books to get to...might as well use some of the time to be creative!</div>

I just have the next stitches to bind off and then it is folded inward and stitched to create a funnel neckline. The fit of the rest of the sweater is great, hopefully the neckline will work out just as well!</div>

Currently the house smells like all the smells because I’m cooking three different things at once in an effort to have a freezer full of home cooked meals. I’m pooped from hours of chopping and looking forward to lounging this evening and working on this festive sweater that is working up really fast on Size 8 needles.</div>

Are you working on anything festive?</div>

I had to knit a teeny, tiny Christmas tree hat for my Lady Lawyer Lane bestie's sweet little baby boy! He wasn't supposed to be here yet so it was a last minute project added to my to-do list, but it came out SO CUTE! It's so small it really only took a few hours, and the pom-poms were from my kiddie craft stash so I just had to sew them on.craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-65887703364508070832018-06-10T20:24:00.000-04:002019-03-23T20:25:45.751-04:00First Time Boating on the Lake<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh my gosh! We did it! We rented a pontoon boat and had an amazing (and sometimes scary) day on the lake. Hubby and I both acted as captain during the day, and we spent lots of time anchored and jumping in the water. We took a lunch in our cooler and had drinks and snacks and the company we rented from had life vests and noodles on board. It was a gorgeous day and we were glad to get out there and make sure we could handle boating on our own so when my mom and nephew come to stay with us in a couple of weeks we can take them out too!</div>

We had such a fun time visiting our friends in Georgia. We all drove to the town of Helen, GA, which is a town in the mountains that is completely German-themed. I can get the beer made in the town I lived in in Germany and food that tastes like I closed my eyes and wound up in Frankfurt. Seriously, we could break our stomachs eating the food is so good. </div>

Our family loves the water so much that this year I thought it would be a great idea to try out boating on the nearby lake and see if it was something we could get into. So we all registered for the NC Wildlife Boating Class and spent our Sunday learning all about boating regulations, etc. Then we took a test (WE ALL PASSED) so that we could be certified for the water. While Hubby and I are old enough that we didn't have to pass the test, Little Man passing it means that once he has a driver's license he'll be able to handle to boat too (the class is good for your lifetime). We learned so much and it made us feel better about the next step...renting a boat to take out onto the lake...yikes!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-41039703575450299642018-04-16T19:25:00.000-04:002019-01-02T19:27:10.822-05:00Taco Truck Box Card Thank You!<br />

My sister was so sweet to host us while we were traveling through Jacksonville on our way to and back from Key West that I wanted to make sure to send her an extra special card. She LOVES tacos, and I remembered that SVGCuts had a taco truck box card design, so I sat down, whipped out my trusty Silhouette Cameo and started cutting out pieces. I love watching their assembly videos...Mary makes the assembly so easy to understand, AND it's like crafting with a fun friend...that you can rewind!</div>

A friend of mine is expecting a little boy soon and loves rabbits...so this little set I put together should bring a smile to her face! I made the diaper cover from a one piece pattern I found on Ravelry and then used my pompom maker for the first time to make the super sweet tail. The hat is a pattern by Susan B Anderson, and while I think it may be too big...I'm hoping it will still make for super cute photos for the new mom!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-32105447469228386352018-02-26T19:43:00.000-05:002018-04-14T19:44:25.712-04:00Kitty Kat Hat<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I can't bear to call this hat by its pattern name...let's just say it's another name for kitty. ANYHOO...the little knitting group of attorneys that meets at my house are all going to whip one of these hats up. They were interested in the pattern so I gifted each of them the yarn and needles for Christmas. It's a fast knit(not in the round)and I was quick to finish it...even though it took me weeks to take the time to seam it up. Now it's done and will hopefully motivate the other ladies to finish theirs!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-67882937620667481222018-02-11T19:38:00.000-05:002018-04-14T19:38:59.654-04:00Twas The Night Before Christmas Socks<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My Christmas Eve cast-on socks are finished! My Mom had the great idea to highlight the tree design by adding little star buttons (that we found in Jo-Ann Fabrics)...and I think it really makes the trees pop! I'll have to take a photo when I'm wearing them, but for now...look at the little trees!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-4440225263611780592018-02-02T19:31:00.000-05:002018-04-14T19:31:46.572-04:00Shaving Cream Marbling<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I saw the coolest video on Instagram where a woman used shaving cream to marble paper. I must admit a weakness for the look of marbled paper so I was super intrigued. I looked into the technique on Youtube figuring you couldn't fake great results there, and after it seemed to check out I headed to the Dollar Tree for supplies. I picked up a can of shaving cream and a squeegee...that's it! I already had some acrylic paint. I came home and filled the bottom of a plastic container with a layer of shaving cream.Then I dropped paint into the cream and swirled designs with a toothpick. After that I cut cardstock to fit flat in the container and laid the cardstock onto the cream. Then I just squeegeed it off and let the paper dry!<br />

Work started off pretty intense right away on January 2nd so the crafting hasn't been happening too much. I'm still knitting away on my Christmas socks and I have some other projects I'll want to be starting soon, but I haven't gotten the chance to finish a lot. I was able to make these Italian-themed thank-you cards for my Mom and nephew. I'm so glad I had a great reason to use this fun stamp set from Newton's Nook. I look forward to making more! Using the dies to cut them out is SO much easier than using an Exacto knife....I can't believe it took me so long to jump on the die-cutting bandwagon!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-79474240531645786062017-12-28T19:08:00.000-05:002018-04-14T19:08:42.127-04:00Chair Project<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We're up with my Mom between Christmas and the New Year and I was looking at her office chair when I realized we had updated her living room but the office chair hadn't been fixed up. I wasn't completely positive if we could fix it up,but decided to give it a try.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We headed to Jo-Ann Fabrics where we found the perfect shade of blue in an upholstery fabric. We headed back to the house where Hubby helped take the chair apart so we could recover the seat and redo the backing. He and I pulled tight and reassembled the chair and were pretty happy with the results! </div>

<br /></div>
I've really grown to love casting-on socks for the Little Bobbins Christmas Eve cast-on. I think this cast-on is the third year I've done it, and I love coming up with a pattern and yarn and looking at all the projects being knit around the world. This year Little Bobbins kept it easy...she designed the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' socks that have trees knit into the fabric. I stopped by a local yarn store and picked up some yarn that will hopefully do the pattern justice and now I'm all ready with a fun holiday movie, my Christmas bag, DPN holder, stitchmarker, AND When Figs Fly port from a local winery. What a festive way to spend Christmas Eve...and that doesn't even include my birthday cake! Merry Christmas!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-10247102409010862232017-12-16T15:36:00.000-05:002018-01-25T14:14:37.309-05:00Christmas with the Knit Nuts 2017<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At one of our recent knitting afternoons a member of the Knit Nuts mentioned that she had never seen the movie 'It's A Wonderful Life'. As a HUGE fan of the movie I decided to see if the ladies would like to come over and have a Christmas get-together at my house and watch the movie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The ladies were excited and carpooled to my home, and I had pasta bake, salad, a grape and cheese tray and a festive nonalcoholic drink ready to enjoy.</div>

I haven't just been cleaning out my craft room! I went through our spare bedroom with a vengeance! And it was there, in a forgotten under the bed storage container, that I came across three packs of curtains that I had bought for our front room and dining room. They had been bought at the same time as we purchased our great room curtains so they would all coordinate, but the curtains needed to be hemmed significantly in order to be used in the other two rooms, and for one window they needed to also be halved so that they wouldn't be too wide for a smaller side window. Also, we didn't have curtain rods for any of those windows! So, I had a decision to make. Either buy rods and get the curtains fixed up to hang, or get rid of them. They had been sitting in the container for 5 years! 5 YEARS! Shameful! Once put into that container I had COMPLETELY forgotten about them! But not anymore! I spent a lot of time over the weekend measuring, pinning and ironing and this week during the evenings I will be sewing and trying to finally get these up!craft-chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10350689376635817399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4578423839237827179.post-79203954372340590412017-12-11T15:27:00.000-05:002018-01-25T11:18:57.233-05:00Beyond Measure Package<div style="text-align: center;">
I've followed Beyond Measure in the UK on Instagram for a while now and I've admired the lovely notions that she ships all around the world. There was one thing I saw again and again that I never made it to her shop fast enough for, but I one day I learned how to have Instagram notify me of posts from specific accounts I follow and was FINALLY quick enough!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I ordered I added some glass head pins (they are really beautiful and I find every so often a few pins added to what I have isn't a bad idea since they get bent, misplaced, etc).</div>

<div>
<br /></div>

<span style="color: black;">I also added some copper colored bulb pins which I can use as stitch markers when knitting. I already have some in black but thought the lighter color might make it easier to see when working with dark yarn.</span></div>

Then, separately wrapped in gorgeous light blue tissue paper...was a hand-hewn pin-cushion with teal tapestry fabric...just what I asked for. The shop has a local wood artisan that makes the wooden bases, but they are so popular they can only be made in batches and they are REALLY small batches! I wanted to ask for this item as a birthday present but wound up ordering it myself because it was tough to get an order in. The upside to ordering it myself was that I was able to open it right away and not wait for my birthday (that's not cheating, right?)</div>

What's this? Yet ANOTHER project that sat in the craft room for far too long waiting for me to complete it. I'm so glad I've finally taken the time to give these items some love and attention so they can live out in the rest of the house. It may be that Little Man is almost aged out of loving this turtle box, but he was still happy to see it finished and quickly took it to his room, so I'm considering that a success!!</div>

</div>
<br />
EEEKKKK! I really don't like handling raw meat...but when I read up on a technique called "spatchcocking" a chicken...I decided to give it a whirl. Basically you cut the backbone of the chicken out so it lays flat and cooks quickly. I used a handy pair of kitchen shears for the cutting (and disposable food prep gloves) and totally was able to pull it off! The chicken roasted in a 500 degree oven for an hour and was done! Juicy and yummy, and so quick! I can't wait to try throwing a spatchcocked chicken on the grill!<br />
