Since May, I've been doing something else in addition to crafting. Back then I started the Run Your Butt Off program from Runner's World. It's a gradual 12-week program that starts you walking 30 minutes 3-4 times a week and it ends with you running 30 minutes. I repeated a couple of weeks, and, a little over a month ago, I got to the point where I could run continuously for 30+ minutes. I run outside, and, while the running has been tough, there's a big sense of accomplishment when I'm done.
Right now I'm doing my 2nd week of a 6-week running clinic. The group meets twice a week in the evening, and I'm hoping it helps me with my next 2 goals: runner faster and increase my endurance. This past Sunday, I accomplished a big (to me) goal...I ran my first 5k race!
It was a small race (270 people), and so it was a nice introduction to the world of timing chips, registration packet pick-ups, and finish lines.
I'm currently able to run/walk a 10k. My goal is to now work on being able to run (at a good pace) for an entire 10k...I'll let you know how that goes!
