Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day in our house with lots of food, some Target shopping, time at the pool and a movie. The day was marred by the loss of my Pop, and instead of talking here about how hard it was, etc...I've got something else I'd like to do. We all know it is best to let those we love know we love them when they're here with us, and so here on my blog, amidst my craft project updates I am going to let all of you out there know what makes each of my immediate family members so great. Then, they'll always have a place to go to read something focusing on what makes them shine. The one tweak to this plan I will make is that I will start with someone who is gone, it is after all Father's Day.

My Pop and I on vacation last year

My Pop liked big cigars, vanilla ice cream, blending things, shoot em up movies, John Wayne, Charlie Pride, shrimp, and being nosy. He liked watching boxing matches and playing poker (and had a real poker face), could sit and read for hours and remembered everything he read. He liked gluing and taping things, having a set schedule, and making goofy faces.

Having him for a father means that I learned it's alright to question, it's alright to be inquisitive (ie nosy), and it's never too late to change for the better.

So, I don't want to end up crying so I'll end there.

Next time, my Mom.

P.S. Yes, I'm still crafting. The Eyelet Dress I am working on is trying to beat me, but I won't let it. Those little Size 3 needles are making the process take FOREVER. I have the back done and am about a quarter of the way done with the front. I knit on it exclusively at home, I work on washcloths for the Purls' KAL on the bus. I'll try to post some progress shots next time.
