Being carried...

Footprints

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonging to him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.

The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you! During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

I'm post-dating this entry for April 17th...I wasn't feeling up to blogging about my Pop being gone 2 years on the actual date, and truthfully, I'm not up to it now. I don't want to not recognize the day, but I don't want this to devolve into a blubbering post either. Let me just say that when I look back at my life when it's over I know these last 2 years is a time when I'll see only one set of footprints...And I'm grateful for anyone reading this blog who has helped me along the way.

Y'know, that's one of my favourite stories, I think it's true though, when you are at your "lowest" that's when not just God, but friends & family really come through for you. Thinking of you, & hoping that you get through this difficult time.

I'm sorry that you are going through a hard time and I know you miss your pop. I love that poem and I know that there are many times in my life that I am thankful I have the Lord in my heart and that he can carry me through the difficult times.
