Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

We enjoyed the past weekend so much! The weekend started with a family dinner at Boudreaux's Louisiana Kitchen. Hubby and I both had Fried Chicken...chicken breasts seasoned with bourbon molasses, buttermilk battered and served over gumbo ya ya. Little Man had the Gumbo Ducharme, a seafood gumbo which has all proceeds going to the National Transplant Association in memory of a former staff member. A Bayou Bomb for me made me quite mellow and the dinner left me quite full. We headed home after that and settled in for the evening.

On Saturday, we ate, then headed to Little Man's swim class. Afterwards we drove to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. We've been meaning to go there for quite some time and decided to go. We had a great time. The way the gardens are laid out, the water features are heard before they are seen. The tall hedges separate the different gardens, creating seemingly secret gardens, each with a spectacular water feature. Because of the overcast sky the humidity was high but we were able to comfortably walk the garden without the sun beaming to harshly on us. We made it through the gardens and then as we were reaching our car it started to rain. Little Man wanted to go back right away, and I'm sure we'll head back, possibly with a picnic basket, as you can take a lunch into the gardens and eat anywhere you want.

The rest of the weekend wasn't too exciting, we went shopping; had a steak dinner on Sunday, and played with Thomas. We enjoyed each other's company and managed to start the week rested and relaxed.

The gardens are truely beautiful and look quite tranquil as well. Looks like the water features were a hit for all of you too. Thanks for sharing what looks like a wonderful family outing.
Love,as always, Mom
