Sweating Through WWKIP, a BBQ, & Stitch N Pitch

On June 12th, as the heat was already starting to engulf the city, I drove to Books-A-Million for WWKIP Day.  I wore my Botanica Medallion Cardi (and got SO many compliments) and worked on my eyelet blanket for my soon-to-be born niece.  I saw several knitters from one of my knitting meet-ups, including Knit1Purl2Mommy, who worked on several beautiful projects...

and WeWantMore and HolyHormones (hey, I didn't make the names up...they did).  I hadn't seen WeWantMore for MONTHS since she added another member to her family and decided they don't want any more ;)

After WWKIP day I drove home, picked the fellas up and drove to Monroe for a big family BBQ for Hubby's grandmother's birthday.  It was HOT, HOT, HOT!  We sweat, and sweat, and sweat some more.  I manned a grill and cooked up some hamburgers.  Little Man ran around with the kids like a maniac, and Hubby socialized and took pictures (he had helped set-up earlier).

It was so hot Little Man and I had to wash-up, powder down and change shirts before we headed to the Charlotte Knights Stadium for a Stitch N Pitch organized by Baskets of Yarn.  I had ordered tickets that included a pre-game dinner and we sweat through dinner, wandered a bit trying to find our seats, and then sweat, sweat, and sweat some more...  I tried to knit some, but really only knit a few rows because the heat was unbearable.  Hubby actually turned to me and said he wanted to not stay for the whole game because he was feeling sick and dizzy.  We bought expensive bottles of water (none of the water fountains were functioning), I was sick and missed an inning because I was in the bathroom.  We both felt a little better once the heat abated a bit, and I managed to be upbeat when the knitters all sang, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," for the stadium (via microphone).  Before we left the final prize drawings were drawn (Little Man did the honors for all but three prizes) and my name was drawn for a $25 gift certificate to Baskets of Yarn.  We stayed a few more minutes but headed out before the game was over to start the drive home.  We got home and drank tons of water...

...and recuperated in the air conditioning!  What a day!
