Mystery Project Revealed

For the last couple of months I've been working on a top secret mystery gift.  Now that Christmas is over, and my Mom received her Island Light Shawl, I can share it!

This project initially gave me trouble.  There were too many increases and not enough decreases, and the symbol legend was missing some information too. I contacted the Etsy shop I purchased it through, and when the shop owner couldn't help, she had the designer contact me.  Several emails went back and forth between us, and I wound up having to do some figuring on my own.  I'm choosing to focus on the beautiful outcome...a shawl seemingly made for my lighthouse-loving mother....because as you can see...there's a lighthouse knit into the design!

I used Knit Picks Gloss Fingering yarn in sea spray for this project, as well as the two Batik shawls I made for Hubby's relatives...I think I'll be okay if I never use this yarn in this colorway again...I spent about 6 months of 2012 working on lace projects with it!! But it sure was the perfect yarn and color for a lighthouse shawl!
