Day One

Our beach trip started on Sunday, June 24 when we left Reading, PA for Wildwood Crest, NJ. We stopped about half an hour away from our hotel to visit the Cape May County Zoo which is a free zoo. We weren't there 5 minutes when Little Man saw the little train they have that you can go on for a 10 minute ride (for a suggested donation of $2/person). Hubby, our nephew Ethan, his Daddy (my brother), Little Man and Me...all squeezed into the back of the train. It made the boys' day!

The lions and the tigers weren't out the day we visited (it was too hot), but we did get to see buffalo, camels, flamingos, ducks, giraffes, and here are Hubby, Little Man and Marcus looking at the zebras.

After we checked-in, and while dinner was being made Mom helped the boys with the first of the pirate crafts we had brought for them to do. Meanwhile I was cooking up potatoes, putting together shrimp cocktail, and Hubby was cooking up the HUGE steaks Pop had picked up at the farmer's market. Those steaks were over an inch thick NY strip steaks, and Hubby said women saw the plate with all five of them and they made this face like,"Oh, my God, those people must be pigs...what did they do bring the whole cow and slaughter it in their room?" Well, we really enjoyed those steaks, and the shrimp! Later Hubby and Marcus went on an ice cream run, and we spent the rest of the evening unpacking, playing with the boys and drinking Hurricane on the balcony listening to the ocean.

The next morning we were disappointed to see bad weather. But, the chilly morning air gave me a great chance to have Little Man wear the tank top that I knit for him that turned out too heavy for warm weather. We headed off to breakfast and afterwards...

when we were leaving to walk back to the hotel Ethan put the hood up on his jacket. Little Man was wearing a blazer and he started scrunching his shoulders funny like he wanted to get it off, until we realized he wanted to have a hood on like Cousin Ethan. So, here is Little Man wearing my jacket so he could have a hood. And his cousin, what did he say? That Little Man looked like Superman!!
Next post...THE BEACH!!

Is this the tank top you were talking about? It's really cute. I am doing the one from the Debbie Bliss book, The Baby Knits Book!
