2009 Project Round-Up

I knit socks, I knit slippers, I knit sweaters, I knit mittens...

I didn't churn out as many projects in 2009, but I did manage to knit diversely. I also made quite a few things for myself which is what contributed to having less FO*s...the projects were bigger and more involved than 2008s primarily kiddie-focused projects. I made two sweaters for myself, the February Lady Sweater and the Botanica Medallion Cardi (which I thought I'd never finish). I also made three wraps...the Clapotis, the Noro Shawl, and the Pleated Wrap. The wraps have gotten the most usage, I always take one to work for when it gets chilly. I also branched out into socks...even learning to knit them two-at-a-time. I tried to be a little fearless in my knitting, this year I may even try my hand at steeking**! Oh, and I finished all the projects in Debbie Bliss' Baby Knits for Beginners! For your viewing pleasure I even included a photo of a WIP*** that was not meant to be...I had to stop less than 10 rows in because the knitting was so rough it gave me a taste of how scary carpal tunnel issues are (and I definitely don't want to go there, so I couldn't go any further).

And, of course, even though I don't take photos of the other projects as much, there were earrings made, stitch markers and lots of cards. Hopefully 2010 is just as crafty!!!

*FO=finished object

**Steeking is when you actually cut your knitting as part of the design (often used when there is colorwork and you want to insert a zipper). It's scary because you've taken hours to knit a piece of fabric, and you have to hope you've prepared for cutting properly, or you may have to start from scratch!

***WIP=work in progress

I think you did very well with your projects for last year. The Botanica Cardi from Vogue Knitting was quite a piece of work! Well done!
